O Factor Tree, O Factor Tree...

Happy Monday, learning friends!
November is here and we're ready for the hard work we need to do over the next three weeks
to finish off strong in Term 1.

In Math, after our mental math assessment, we jumped in to learning about breaking down numbers into their smallest units. Did you know every number can be represented as a product of prime numbers?! It's true!

To help us with this process, we're using a 'factor tree' strategy.
Take a look:

We start with the number at the top (like the 'star' of a tree) and then work our way down until we have a series of prime numbers at the bottom. We can write these numbers in a multiplication equation, and when we check our answer, the product matches the number at the top! Cool!

Please ask me about factor trees and how Mme used them to do a bit of 'Math Magic' today in class.
Math is SO fun! :)

Agenda

1. Factors and multiples sheet - finished for tomorrow, please
(Many students have already finished but some require more time).

2. Work on rough draft "les buts" at home
(Rough draft and first revision with Mme should already be done. Students who require more time to complete their drafts are encouraged to work at home or tomorrow at lunch with Mme).
