Bonjour, Week 7!

Hello! Happy Monday!
Week 7 is here!

A few announcements for the week:

1. Reminder of Teams Meetings:
* Whole class weekend sharing / weekly check-in meeting Monday mornings (so, this morning) at 10:00. Attendance is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged! :) We may even have a few guest teachers joining us today, so try your best to pop in and say hello! :)

* Math and Français support is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 - 10:30.
(Drop-in format - Join if you like, when you like, for as long as you like, within the time frame.)
*Please make sure you have what you need with you before connecting during these sessions (ex: papers, pencil, etc.) Please also ensure you have already followed the lessons (videos, examples) in Showbie prior to popping in; this will ensure we can focus on specific questions that aren't understood, rather than asking, "Mme, what do I do with these pages?" I am happy to help however I can - and by taking time to be prepared, we can ensure everyone's questions can be heard and answered during these times. :)

* One-on-One: I am happy to set appointments with any students who would like to connect one-on-one Friday mornings. Please reach out to me by email or drop me a note in Showbie (there is now a new "Request an appointment" assignment in the Microsoft TEAMS folder for this purpose) and I will follow up with you to make it happen! *If Friday mornings do not work well for you, please let me know and we can work together to find another time slot that works for both of our schedules. :)

2. Please make sure you sign up for a writing conference for your 'Biographie' text once your typed draft has been submitted.  (More info posted below under Français - Biographie.)

3. New "Assignment Questions" folder in Showbie.
I have created a new "Assignment Questions" folder in Showbie. I am hoping that this will help us keep on top of any questions and answers that pop up while completing different tasks. I do my best to monitor all questions and comments in all assignments as they come in, but I know that sometimes I find them and reply way later than I would like or they get missed completely, which is not very helpful. Assignments can still be handed in in the same way, but I'm hoping the new "Questions" folder will help me respond to questions more efficiently. Thank you for help (and patience)!

Les conférences de révisions vont commencer le mercredi de cette semaine.

Une fois que ton brouillon est affiché en Showbie, inscrire pour un rendez-vous dans le dossier "Français - Écriture; Conférences de révisions." (Plus de détails sont affichés là.) S.v.p. : Ne prend pas une conférence le même jour que tu remets ton texte; il faut que j'ai un peu de temps à lire ton texte avant que nous réunissons. Si tu as déjà remis ton texte, tu es prêt d'enregistrer pour un temps qui te convient.

Showbie: Curious student asks: "Do I always have to check each assignment every day to see if you replied to my questions or commented on my work? How do I know where to check?"
Answer: Yes, you could do it that way, but that takes a lot of time. Another way to keep up-to-date with Showbie news is to adjust your Notifications. If you have Notifications turned on in Showbie, you should get a message letting you know when something new has been added or that a comment has been made on your work. This way, you know where to check and when. Turning on Notifications is not necessary - just an option if you'd like to get 'live' updates on your school work. Any questions? Please ask!

Hello, friends! With the exception of new tasks posted this week and your Biography draft edits, all tasks that have been submitted to Showbie have been read! Hooray!
What does this look like?
Sometimes there will be a checkmark or a 'Bravo!' Other times I have given written feedback either as a comment on your assignment or as a note posted in your assignment folder. If a copy of an assignment rubric was posted along with the assignment (CFOO, for example), comments can be found there.
Please take a minute or two today to look back through your completed tasks to see if there is feedback you can take and apply to your assignments as we continue to move forward with our remote-learning adventure. If you have questions about a specific assignment, if you don't understand what my comments mean, or if you would like to review a specific task one-on-one, please let me know! We can message in Showbie or meet in Teams or I can call you and we can talk on the phone! Whatever works best for you is good for me! :)
Moving forward, I will try to respond to any new tasks posted within the week they are assigned. If you are stuck on an assignment, please post a note in Showbie, or pop into our support sessions Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:00 in Teams to ask. Here We Go, Week 6!

Happy Monday, everyone! Welcome to Week 6!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! :)

On the academic side of things, we will be working to wrap up a few of the items we've been working on over the last while, while also adding in a few new tasks to continue our learning.
* In Français, our goal is to have our Biography drafts typed in Word and submitted to Showbie by the end of the week, so we can start moving ahead with the editing process. Please read the instructions and watch the tutorials posted in Showbie for more information.
* In Math, we will be completing two final tasks this week before wrapping up our "Polygones, périmètre et aire" unit, so taking time to work through the previously posted lessons by the end of the week, if you have not already done so, as well as working through this week's lessons would be beneficial.

[Please remember that due dates are fluid and are given for families who are looking for a way to plan and structure the work day/week. I will continue to move older tasks into the "Vieux Travaux" folder so that newer items aren't getting lost, but they are still there! If you complete an item that has been moved to a "vieux travaux" folder please drop me a note in Showbie so that I can go and take a look! (I am not checking these folders as often and don't want to miss your work!)]

I hope you've all had a great week and are continuing to settle into a home-learning routine.
It was great connecting with you on Teams and in Showbie this week, and I look forward to continuing these connections with you as we move along with our lessons.

I am hoping to set our next Teams meeting for Monday morning at 10:00. This will replace our Monday morning "Class discussion" check-in on Showbie. I set this meeting in Teams yesterday, so it should already be showing in your calendar. Please RSVP when you can!
