Hello families! Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to tackle Week 5 of our home-learning adventure!
Today is a very HAPPY day in my house as it is my son Leo's 6th Birthday! He informed me first thing this morning that since it is his birthday, and since he cannot have a friend party, he is allowed to do whatever he wants today, including eating candy for breakfast. So, it promises to be an energetic - and likely
very noisy - day chez the Careens! :)
Reminder: If you have not yet signed up for a "locker clean-out" slot, please sign in to conference manager to do so. Information about this was sent home from the school office last week. While you are at the school, you will notice that I have left a few additional items (Math notebook, Science duotang,
a bag of yummy treats!, etc.) in front of your lockers. These are not necessary for our upcoming lessons; they are just some of the supplies we had been using in class prior to schools being closed and I thought I would leave them for you to take home while you were collecting your other school items. Please send me an email if you have any questions.
New this week: We are going to give a Teams meeting a try! A meeting has been set for Wednesday at 10:00. Please see the tutorials now posted in Showbie for how to set-up Teams and let me know if you have any questions. Please RSVP to the meeting, and if you cannot make it, please drop me a quick note to let me know why (ex: not a good time, etc) so that I can take all feedback into consideration moving forward.
Our first meeting will be more 'social' in nature so that we can all become familiar with the platform before possibly moving ahead with class lessons or meetings in smaller groups. I am also happy to start setting up one-on-one check-ins (for academic support, or simply to chat) if there is interest. Please email me and let me know if this is something you would like to schedule and we'll work together to find a time to meet!
Continuing this week: Showbie - open discussions.
Monday - TODAY! Pop in to say hello and to share about your weekend between 10:30 - 11:00.
Tuesday - Open Math discussion: 10:30 - 11:00
Thursday - Open Français discussion: 10:30 - 11:00
I think that's it for now.
Let's get this week started! :)

**A special announcement from Mme Chernick:
{ From now until the end of the school year, ScHum is going to be mixed in with other subjects like French and English so I will not be posting any more assignments on Showbie. Instead I will be collaborating with Mme. Champagne and Mme. Careen to squeeze some Canadian History concepts into your other subjects. I am still always here for you if you need anything. I will leave our Showbie class open. Feel free to message me whenever you'd like. }

{Get your Expo markers ready for a new "write on your window / whiteboard / mirror / other-erasable-surface question! Work on the question throughout the week and post a picture in Showbie to show your progress. Hints will be posted as the week goes on. Note: A final "correct" answer isn't the goal; the focus is on the process and exploring many different options. Have fun!}
