Hello! Happy Monday! Happy April!
Welcome back to our home learning adventure, week 2!
I hope you all had a good week of at-home relaxation - or at-home spring cleaning!
I know the "to-be-donated pile" at our house grew exponentially last week and my two boys are tired of cleaning out each closet and shelf... :)
Another thing I took time to reorganize were the folders in Showbie. Everything is still there, but students will notice that there are more folders specific to the type of assignment they are doing. I'm hoping this will help students connect items from our daily blog posts directly to the same categories in Showbie without too much searching. We'll try it out this week and see how it goes!
I know there was new information released from the province last week about suspending classes indefinitely. There is no doubt that our learning-from-home adventure will continue to evolve as the weeks progress, most notably once our paper follow-along-at-home copies have run out. Please know that the Grade 6 teachers - and the rest of the Ness staff - are collaborating on how to best keep the learning going to ensure that main ideas, concepts and skills are still being taught via distance as best they can. Teaching from afar is new to us, too, and it is quite likely that we are going to learn as much from you as you will learn from us. If there was ever a time to float the phrase "teamwork makes the dream work," this would be it! :)
So, how will this week take shape? We will take time this week to catch-up on some of the items that were introduced before spring break. The original 'due dates' in Showbie have been pushed back to reflect this. (Also note, even if a due date is passed, you can still hand items in; the folder doesn't lock. The due dates were mostly placed to help me keep track of items at first; please consider them a general guideline to keep track of what you might be working towards finishing during the week).
Each day this week, I will introduce a couple of shorter, specific items to be completed when you have a chance. You will also note that today, being Monday, I've posted a week-long task in Math. This is something you can pick-up and try when you have a few extra minutes to focus on schoolwork. I have done my best to explain the items step-by-step, but please do not hesitate to drop me a note is Showbie or send me an email if more info is needed! We will see how this week goes, and will make adjustments as needed as we move forward.
Helpful hints:
* Some internet browsers (Chrome for sure) offers the option of translating a website into English if needed. I will also start providing a brief translation of the task below the original French instructions when possible. On the blog these will be italicized in green.
* If you are looking for extra/extension academic activities to support at-home learning, please take a look at the document posted in Showbie (also emailed home before the break) for a list of sites. I cannot stress enough how important keeping up with daily French reading will be during our time away from school. Any time spent on daily French literacy is time well spent! :)
Alright. I promise the rest of my blog posts will not be anywhere near this long - I just had a lot to share after a week off! :) I'm excited to tackle another week of school-at-home with all of you!
Let's get started!

1, 2, 3, 4!
En utilisant les 4 opérations ( + - x / ) et les chiffres 1, 2, 3 et 4 en n'importe quel ordre, pouvez-vous écrire une équation pour chaque nombre entre 0 à 20?
Using the four operations ( + - x / ) and the digits 1, 2, 3 and 4 in any order, can you create and solve equations for each number between 0 and 20?
Exemples (pour 0):
(1 + 2 - 3) x 4 = 0 OU 4 - 3 - 2 + 1 = 0 OU 4 / 2 - 3 + 1 = 0 OU 4 - 3 + 1 - 2 = 0
( / = division)

Les travaux à rattraper
* Here is a list of all that we worked on before Spring Break, modified sightly to emphasize what items could be handed in so that I can continue to assess your progress while you are working from home. I have linked back to the 4 main blog posts from the week before the break for quick reference if explanation is required.
Please continue to work on (and hand in) these items over the course of the week while keeping-up with the current daily tasks posted, if possible. Merci! :)
