Welcome, Week 3!

Hello, Monday!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
I would like to start by sharing, that for the first time ever, I attempted (and succeeded!) in making orange buns (like cinnamon buns but made with orange zest instead of cinnamon)! I was skeptical  - and nervous! - about my ambitions, but was very happy about how they turned out! I even documented this with pictures... that's how big of a deal it was! Yum! :)

This week we are moving ahead with new concepts in Math and Science. We will also be moving ahead with our writing in French, with the goal of soon finishing our biography texts!

Separate to this post, I have posted a "Week 1 and 2 Task Review" post that I encourage you to review and work through over the course of this week when time permits.

New this week! I will begin posting announcements and information from Mme Champagne and Mme Chernick on our classroom blog whenever they have info to share with you. I will post this info at the beginning of our daily post before outlining our Math, Science and Français learning goals. If you have any questions about the work posted for ELA or ScHum, please contact either Mme Champagne or Mme Chernick directly. :)

Also New this week! I will be opening up "Class Discussion" in Showbie for Math and Français support to allow students to interact with me (and with each other) in real time. You do not have to plan your day around these times - I will continue to check Showbie for comments and questions as they come in - but I thought that this may be a way for students to work through some items with "live" access to me and each other if needed.

THIS WEEK:
Open Math support will be on Wednesday from 10:30 - 11:00.
Open Français support (for biography-writing questions or other) will be on Thursday from 10:30 - 11:00.

If we find these open dialogue times to be helpful and successful, we will consider extending the time or adding an additional slot moving forward. This process is new to me, so we will see how it goes! :)

This Friday (April 17) will be an academic 'pause day' for students. Teachers will work on assessment and preparation of learning this day. No new work will be assigned. Students may use this day as a catch-up day if more time for learning is required. Families may also choose to use this extra day as a chance to relax and connect.

Week One and Two Task Review

Week One and Two Task Review

Below is a list of learning tasks from the last two weeks that I would like to wrap up by the end of this week, if possible. As we move forward into learning new concepts and completing new tasks, sifting through the backlog starts to get tricky.
I will still assess everything that comes in, but with shifting focus to newer items, I may not respond or give feedback to older items as quickly. And, as we move ahead, it is important to have a foundation for what is coming next.

FRANÇAIS

Concepts - PEDMAS: We did a lot of work with PEDMAS, but taking photos of all of the sheets is not necessary. After correcting your work with the answers posted in Showbie, please message me if there are certain questions you would like to review for clarification.

SCIENCE
Exploration of TinyBop. Have you responded to Mme Careen about whether or not you can access the site from a computer (desktop or laptop)? If not, please read the information posted in Showbie and respond ASAP!
